Treasury Ukur Yattani today is reads the last budget of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government of the 2022/2023 financial year.
CS Yatani revealed that the implementation of socio-economic policies and structural reforms have seen Kenya graduate from a low income to a middle income country w/ an estimated per capita income of Ksh. 244,000 in 2021, a significant leap of 92.1% from Ksh. 127,000 in 2013.
“The Government has rolled out various reforms in the Education sector, including the new CBC. In 2012, the transition from primary to secondary schools was 64%, currently, the rate is at 100%.”CS Yatani said.
UDA Mp Aden Duale claimed that the national treasury violated the Constitution and rolled back the power of the purse to the executive.
“Why Budget statement 2022 by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury is a violation of the constitution, emasculation of the National Assembly and a roll back of power of the purse back to the executive,” Aden Duale remarked.
